Just got my renewal notice from Markel. After 5 years with them an no accidents, no tickets, no claims, nothing, my rates increased over 85%. I called to find out why and all I got was some mumbling. I'm looking at Geico, Progressive, Safeco and probably Dairyland. Any comments on any of them? What kind of coverages are you guys carrying?

I've had Progressive for about 6 years now. I've experienced no increases and have had great customer service. I've had 2 accidents in that time and there's been absolutely no problems with them. Before that I had geico and had much the opposite experience. They may have lower rates but you get what you pay for.

Progressive has not increased for my 5 bikes. Been with them over 15 years. What was odd they have a 5 bike limit on the web portal and i called to add my newly acquired 14 sgs and was quoted like 425 for full coverage and im in calif. I decided to try something and that was to do a bike replacement picking one of my 5 bikes and it was then 300 ish, weird. I have one without insurance but i plan to sale it anyhow.
I do know they are changing how the policy is paid for where older policies can pay by the month where new have to be yearly. I pay by the year anyhow. I also suspect older policies are grandfathered for safety questions as for the phone ad quote there were many safety questions or classes etc that ive not taken. Ive had my motorcycle license since 15 1/2. So i think safety certs and lastly credit score has impacts. Each state is so different though.

I just started riding last year and initially got Riders insurance - $90 / year for liability only in PA on a 2006 Honda Shadow 750. I started looking into the new Road Kings and Riders was really high for full coverage - around $550 / year. I checked out geico, it was ridiculously high - almost 1k/year ! I checked out progressive, and it was less than half than Riders, about 250/year. So i switched my honda over, that was 75/year, and when I added the Road King with full coverage (high deductibles though) i am paying about 220/year for both - honda being liability only. So i cant speak to if progressive will be raising my rates, but hopeful so far. My renewal with Rider was going to be the same rate, so at least they seemed to be consistent.
