Except one guy lives in Ohio, one in Kentucky, one in British Columbia, and I live in Michigan and every state's insurance laws and minimum coverages are different. Michigan has unlimited medical coverage, Kentucky has no minimum (I think) so you can't compare from different states you can only compare with others in California. Last I heard, rates in California are among the highest in the nation. The biggest rating factor now is credit scoring. Having a good credit rating can reduce your rates by 50% or more (at least here in Michigan).

Check with Markell insurance. I have gotten the lowest rates from them.

Not wishing to hijack this at all, but I can't help but wonder if you "way up north riders" need to carry insurance a full 12 months out of the year if you can only ride say 7 months?

I've had State Farm on all my vehicles and house for 27 years.
Not sure just what the breakdown is on my vehicles moneywise, but I've done the "free quote" thing a number of times over the years with other insurance companies.
Very few contact me later with a quote and the ones that do, all wanna change something- higher deductible, different coverage, whatever.
This tells me they can't match or better what I already have.
Just my opinion...

Mine was $27 a month ($324 a year) on my 2007 FXDSE before State Farm found out about a couple of tickets I have received in the past two years, it is now right at $80 a month ($960 a year) what a difference two tickets make. the first one was for improper passing (Accident involved) and the second one was a speeding ticket 72 in a 55 (construction zone).
