Black Hawk
Me and 6 other guys are heading to Black Hawk, CO on Friday morning. The plan is to hit the casinos on Friday night when we get there and then get up early on Saturday and check out the scenes. This is going to be a short trip and we are heading back to Texas on Sunday morning. My question is, what or where is the best road to ride in that area? I was thinking Estes Park would be a good day trip for us. What are your suggestions?
The road from Estes to Black hawk is great. There is a twisty down from above Blackhawk. You will see the sign on the way to Estes from BlackHawk It says Golden. Take the ride but be careful. It twists and turns all teh way down the mountain. Tight turns. I was planning the same trip the 15th but that got screwed so I'll probably make it in July. If your heart is in it you can leave blackhawk run to Estes then come back over the great devide and end up back down in Winter park then Denver.
Have a great trip I really miss those mountains.

Yes, that is about the best trip you can make from there. It's great roads, beautifull country, moderate traffic, and not a great distance.
Watch out for the elk herd in Estes Park.
The Brewery in Estes makes a pretty good lunch.
Pay the bux and go up Trail Ridge Road. One of the highest paved roads in north America. Truly spectacular scenery. Yes, you have to pay to get into the park, but it's worth it.
Like he said, If you can take the little (and I do mean little) extra time to go down through Grand lake, winter park, over the pass, and back on I-70, you won't be disappointed. You'll be passing the headwaters of the Colorado River.
Another nice (and much shorter) trip is to the top of Mt Evans. It's just recently been opened (the snow is finally cleared).
Wherever you go, don't leave town without cold weather and rain gear.

Alrighty then...sounds like a good and scenic trip. Thanks for the advice. And you better believe I got the cold weather gear and rain gear already packed. It rains everytime I go to any mountain range...and sometimes snows.[:'(]
Like they said the road from Blackhawk to Golden is awesome!!!!! But be careful, it has as tight of turns as you will see, lots of off camber turns that have you shooting to the edge quick.
