Hey....glad you can make it up here. I live in the area, Spearfish area, and go to Black Hills HD. From where I moved here from they are rock stars compared to other dealerships.

I needed the 1k service while in Sturgis and wanted to get it done before my ride home. BH HD had me out the door in a couple hours and I was entertained while I waited. To ensure I got what I needed done in a timely manner, I was one of the first guys in line bright and early. I recommend you do the same.

Black Hills is a nice dealer with lots of stock for the rally. Easy access right off I90 just outside (west of) Rapid. They also have lots of parts and accessories vendors (all the major ones) in the parking lot along with food vendors during thr rally so you will have things to do while waiting on the service.

Paul.

I would research Harley shops outside of Sturgis, along your route, to have that work done before arriving in Sturgis with the crowds. Why do you have to have that done in Sturgis?

So the bike is brand new? Have you considered just pounding out some miles and changing it before you leave? Myself, even get 500 miles on it.

Personally I wouldn't want to go cross on a bike with no miles. Even 1k miles would make me nervous. 5k was the rule of thumb on my new bike, didn't make that far. I know many people will say I worry to much.

But either way, I would go pound out some miles, change it little early, instead of dealing with it at Sturgis. Its around 900 miles for you to Sturgis. Hell I would be tempted to dump the oil with a few hundred, and just do the rest when I got home.

You want your bikes first service in a zoo like Strugis, that is rushing bikes in and out as fast they can???
******
Even in general I would rather dump good oil at home, so I could go round trip without dealing with it on the road, especially Sturgis.
