Made it back about 1/2 hour ago. Man, what a good trip. Really croded everywhere except Cabbage Patch. I snagged some shirts from there. The Broken Spoke was closed for Biketoberfest this year, and the Iron Horse was so packed there was no parking. Rode by Main Street, but that too was packed. DId check out the Cabbage Patch, and on Saturday night, not too bad,
I stopped by SMiley's Tap and snagged a shirt from there. Their 50th Anniversary.
I also hit up J&P at Destination Daytona and snagged some Avon grips I have had my eye on. All in all a good run.
I got back a couple hours ago. I rode down Thursday morning and went to the Tropical Tattoo bike show. It was a great way to kick off Biketoberfest although I expected nicer bikes. I loved the old bikes and glad there were no stupid big wheel or other "modern" bikes there, but most of the bikes were beat to ****. Only a few Knucks, Pans and Shovels had been redone.
I went to most of the popular spots and it was the same old stuff. There were more people there than I ever remember at a Biketoberfest. I went by Destination and was unsure why I did when I got there. There was a decent band playing at Saints and Sinners Pub. Hit Main St. a couple of times mainly for the people watching. I rode "The Loop" and went by my old stomping grounds around Ponce Inlet. Had a great lunch one day at Caribbean Jacks. The Indian dealership had Boss Hoss there again. I love their trikes. Overall it was a worthwhile trip as I got to see some family and drink some beers with a buddy that lives in Ormond and meets me out at places.
I'm hoping to have my Grey Ghost restored by Bike Week 2026 and might enter it at Tropical Tattoo just for grins. Hope everyone that went was safe and had fun!
I think he canceled Sons due to another commitment, did not seem like it was a negative. I forget how he said it.
Ace is cool and all, but the ride to and from Daytona is not the best. But have fun. I was there the year they opened, there was a Michael Lichter gallery upstairs, not sure if it is still there, give it a look.
They closed the Orlando ACE and opened one in Sanford. The ride there is actually pretty nice, we took all back roads until right to Sanford.
