Hello from GA
Whats up guys, my name is Will and I just made my first "real" bike purchase a few weeks ago -- a new 2018 Sportster 48 115th Anniversary edition... Dealer wanted it out before 2019 so i got a pretty good deal on it.
Learned to ride and work on bikes over the past few months on an '01 Rebel 250 that I got for a couple hundred bucks that'd sat outside for years and barely ran. Got it running and looking like new for a few hundred bucks worth of parts and paint while learning to ride on it, sold it for 2k, and bought the Harley.
I've already started upgrading the Harley and have googled about a million different questions, all of which led me to this forum where I've found a ton of great information and have learned alot about my new machine. Here are some pics of my new baby:
The day I got her and had to drive her home in the rain:
The bike didn't sound like a Harley. So the first thing I did was a set of V&H Short Shots (and some rear passenger pegs while i had the exhaust off)
I like open roads and green lights--but i don't like feeling like I'm gonna slide off the back of the bike when I accelerate. Plus i wanted the GF to be able to hop on the back for rides around the town. So next came a Saddlemen Step Up LS seat.
And i think we can all agree that visibility is important -- and the stock HD headlight was NOT cutting it....like at all. It sucked. So I found a DayMaker knock-off on AMZN for under $40 bucks, and now i light up the entire road. Best $40 dollars ive ever spent.
I plan to go with a high-performance air cleaner and an FP3 soon to get rid of the backfire im experiencing when decelerating. Also going to paint the V&H heat shield black with some DEI silicone exhaust sealant and find a brown swing-arm bag that matches the seat.
If any of yall are in the Athens GA area, hit me up and lets go for a ride or two.
Thanks!

welcome to HDF.
I will be your tour guide. Be sure to read the manual before posting ok mate?
Or we will have discipline you and if you don't "get it" we will need to discipline you biker style.
Now, for your orientation. Go down the hall on your left to the 1st room. No, wait. That is where Izzo interviews the gals. The 1st room on your right. That is where the commissary is.
Then you will see doors marked for the mortuary, skeet shooting, a room where we make fun of In-Jun bikes, and of course we have a ahh, umm, oh yeah a across the hall.
We had a BOMB MAKING room but, well, ahhhhh, 1 of the guys just didn't understand Blasting Caps very well so..... you know.
We have our own pub .
There are several places where you can familiarize your self with the .
So don't be a wall flower watching others . Get involved.
See you around mate. I am going to the commissary now.
**** ON THE SERIOUS SIDE ****
**** I AM NOT ONE TO GIVE ADVICE ON HOW HDF WORKS BUT… ****
**** AND THE FOLLOWING IS UNOFFICIAL ****
You are in the “New Members Area” where you can introduce yourself and let us know what Harley Davidson bike(s) (if any) you ride/own.
If you have questions about engines, exhaust systems, audio issues, etc… then:
1) Please go to the upper corner and Roll Over “Forums”
2) Then come down to and Roll Over “Harley Davidson Tech & Mechanical Forum”
3) Then come down to the section that would be most appropriate for your question like Audio Systems, Engine Mechanical Topics, Exhaust System Topics, etc… and CLICK on the topic you have a question about.
You will find the knowledge here is EXCELLENT and these here mates are willing to help you in any way they can. ‘juss be careful. There are some “Trolls”, so I suggest just ignoring them ‘ole farts.
See you around HDF. Come often, we have a humor thread, game thread, and a LOT of other stuff.
Have A Great Day Mate,
