Redirecting Blow-by
My '14 Electraglide has some blow-by. It was leaking all over the timing cover and burning on the exhaust, so I took it into the dealer on warranty. They said the amount of oil was "within limits" (I personally think it is more than a brand new bike should have), so they put a new rubber hose in the air cleaner and sent me on my way. While it did fix the oil dripping down the side of the bike, I now have a get a pretty good smell of burning oil whenever I come to a stop once I've been running the bike for a while.
Anyone vent their oil breather line down to the ground to prevent this? Thinking letting it drip is better than smelling it burn. Other than a little extra corrosion preventation oiling the bottom side of the bike, any draw back to this method?

Yes, absolutely sure. I do my own maintenance. I've even tried running it a half quart low. Still has blow-by.
Is it possible you still have oil film on the engine from the original moment it happened? Try spraying down the area and underneath with Simple Green and hose it off. I run the oil level on my 2015 FLHTKL at the halfway point on the "safe" range of the dip stick (that's the way it was delivered too). I've never had blow-by or dripping in 8,500 miles so far.
I have no oil whatsoever in my air cleaner and never a drip. I have the HD Screamin Eagle stage 1 air filter kit which includes the integrated breather bolts and before that with the stock filter, no oil either. I too fill only to half way up the dipstick's normal range and I believe that's at least half the problem with most. If you only fill yours that high, then you could have a ring seating problem but good luck with talking them into fixing that.

I pretty much expect blow-by just about no matter what. In 6 bikes all with various levels of oil, never fails, just does it.
I still don't understand how the level of oil in a remote oil bag/pan in which the oil is pumped to and from affects blow-by in the actual engine, but it surely does somehow considering all the people who post better results running the oil level low.

Fought this issue for a while. I thought I had it beat by running the oil low, but it came back. I got a DIY Breather Kit from DK Customs (site sponsor) and it did the trick. Well worth the money, installed in about an hour.
