Default P0118 Engine temp sensor high/open

Twice now, about 8 weeks apart, the check engine light on my 2015 Street Glide Special has came on. It will come on for about 5 seconds and go off. Both times I have pulled the code and it displays the code P0118 Engine temp sensor high/open. I reset it the first time to see if it was a fluke or if it came back. Well it came back.
Has anyone else seen this? I thinking the engine temperature sensor may be slowly failing. But I've never seen one do that before. Any constructive input would be appreciated.

Check the condition of the connector. High/Open could mean that it's not getting a good connection.
Should it be more than that, they are pretty cheap and not too hard to replace.

Usually when these go bad or out of range the engine will run rough or not at all.

Is there a way to check the sensor? Maybe a resistance range the sensor should have across the connections? I have looked in my manual and the only it tells me is where it is and how to replace it. But I can't find any information on testing the sensor to determine if it is bad or maybe failing.
I also cannot find apart number for the sensor. I feel sure my local dealership will know the part number Maybe

Mine failed, it was super cheap to just replace it.

I replaced my engine temperature sensor this weekend. Once I got the old one out I checked the resistance across the leads and compared it to the new one.
The one one read 4.1K ohms. The new one read 3.5 K ohms. Honestly, I'm not sure how specific this is. I know some sensors I have changed on cars before this higher resistance would have indicated the sensor was failing or had failed. Again, I'm not sure if this is the case here.
But, either way, this is the information I gathered on this sensor. Maybe it will help someone in the future.

Welcome from Sydney Australia.

When you say you had it tuned was it a Dyno tune? I would expect that during the dyno tune they took it above 4500 rpm - did it shut down then?
