I live in Northern NJ and I often ride up Rt 23 to the West Milford/Vernon area. On nice days Rt 23 seems packed with bikers.

I ride alone so I have to ask, where is everyone going? I tried doing some research on this forum and Hawk's Nest seems to be a logical destination for a trip up 23, but is there something else I'm missing?

 

If you take 23 into Port Jervis and head up RT 97 past Hawks Nest in Barryville, NY you'll find a place called Cedar Rapids Bar and grill. Nice place but the ride up there is breathtaking along the Delaware River. IMO, one of the most beautiful roads in the region. Best memories on that road... Try it one day...

 

I do that ride up 23 alot. Most of the time I end up in Greenwood Lake. Always a ton of bike at the bars around the lake.

 

This weekend there will be a Crawfish Festival in Sussex. It will be the entire weekend (camping) at the Sussex county fair grounds. I guess it's gotta be somewhere near Vernon or the Sussux county airport? If the weather cooperates the roads will be jammed.

 

Rt.23 also leads into High Point State park. On a nice day you can see great views of the tri state from the top at the parking lot of the structure/tower.

 

I know tons of good routes up that area. I'm in Hoboken.

I live right up the road from you. I'm always looking for someone in our area to ride. I usually shoot up 9W into NY or cut off into northern Bergen county. I do also just take a spin around the neighborhood. I live right off river rd. About 1 mile North of the Weehawken ferry. Let me know if you want to ride.

I'm probably going to be wrenching on the bike this evening. Need to put my XiEDS on and take a look at the damage / inventory what i F'ed up this weekend.

 

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to go to Hawk's Nest, Greenwood Lake and High Point State Park. Must be good riding up there in the fall.
