05 fxdc
Hey guys. So I just bought my first bike. It’s a 05 dyna fxdc.super glide custom. 88. Fuel injected. I know very little and wanna change all the fluids. Can someone help me out and tell me the best oil and filter , type and amount of oil for engine, tran and primary. Thanks in advance. So stoked on the bike.

My 2003 Wide Glide is trans 24 oz, primary 26 oz, oil 3 quarts. Double check to be sure 2005 is the same before taking my word for it.
Check the oil level on the jiffy stand after running the bike for a few minutes, trans with the bike straight up (if no lift enlist help), and primary fluid should be at the bottom of the clutch plates.
I usually get my oil filters from the dealer, or a K+N at the nearest auto parts store. As far as what brand/type of fluids there are **** tons of threads and opinions on that…right now I’m using VR1 20-50, synthetic trans fluid in the primary, and 75-140 synthetic gear oil in the trans.
Take some time to read some of the oil threads, lots of smart folks in here and no shortage of entertaining opinions either. 😆

There is no best.
When you remove the drain plugs, use a 5/8" socket, not an allen wrench.
That is because there is a plug on the oil pan that should not be removed, it can only be removed with an allen wrench, if you use a socket you won`t be able to remove it, simple as that.
Your owners manual will have the information you need on oils and capacities.
