I just installed a HD oil cooler on my 07 Ultra.. i then added 4 qts and checked. a ok. now I ride a few miles,, my question? should I add 1/2 qt to compensate for the oil cooler of let it be until the next oil change?? again. I drained ,installed new oil filter and oil cooler and refilled.

I would bet that after you ride it a while and warm it up, you will have to add a bit to bring the level up to full. At that point you have filled the hoses and cooler with some of the 4 qts you put in, and will be slightly low on the stick.,,

keep an eye on it for awhile. Don't add any oil unless the dipstick shows that you need to. You might be surprised. I, for one, would rather have the level a tad low than to high.

Don't worry if you overfill a Harley Twin Cam engine it will give you all the extra oil back. It will also give some to the guy riding behind you.

The TC engines are fitted with an automatic oil ejection device that looks like an air cleaner.... Some also employ the auto-ejector dip stick.
