Default K&P Engineering Oil Filter

Has anyone installed or know anyone who has used the K&P Engineering Stainless Steel Micronic oil filter? My local wrench has recommended it instead of an oil cooler. He said in a test he did it lowered the oil temp approx. 15 degrees. I'm running Amsoil and with the addition of this filter or an oil cooler the Oklahoma summers should not be a problem. I'd like to hear some input from anyone with experience using this filter.

I have a pamphlet at home. I'll see if there is a link on it.

I just ordered one from DRS Cycles. http://drscycle.com Part#: 89069 The part retails for $156 but if you order from their on-line system you can get it for $137.02. Here's a little more info on the product.

OIL FILTER/COOLER KITS FOR MOST MODELS
Part#: 89069
Order Part

* K&P Engineering
* Chrome Plated
* With its cleanable stainless steel mesh element this may be the last oil filter you will ever buy
* The 3 1/8" long finned housing acts as an oil cooler and is CNC machined from 6061 T6 billet aluminum
* The high-flow element is made from a medical grade type 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth that will trap contaminants that far exceed the OEM requirements. Not only does it allow you to make a visual inspection of debris, it is easily cleaned with any type of degreaser or soap and water
* To further improve efficiency, a super strength nickel-plated neodymium rare earth magnet is installed in the top of the element for pre-filtering the oil
* Features a quad-type filter housing to engine case steal, bypass valve and meets or exceeds the manufacter's specifications (will not void new bike warranty)
* Includes cup wrench and instructions

Rick, you have to let us know after you get it how the quality is and how well it filters.
It looks rather interesting...

Interesting that I had to look at the FAQ on their website to find this comment,

'Paper filters are rated on averages, percentages and multiple passes, so a 10 micron rated paper filter may be letting particles 50 microns and larger through. The medical grade stainless steel cloth that we use is consistent across the entire surface and is rated at 35 microns, meaning nothing larger than 35 microns should pass through'

Still looking forward to comments on this filter, but for now sticking to name brand filters.

Filter was delivered this week and I should have it on this weekend. Looks interesting as the billet aluminum cap allows it to act as an oil cooler as well. Hope it works a good as it looks.

Although it says 'filter can be cleaned,' my question would be, how would we know when it was clean? If I could get away with it (wish I wouldn't), I'd put it in the dishwasher! What de-greaser would you use, a strong Dawn detergent mixture? Simple Green? Kerosene?
