I have been out there twice. The view from Dante's peak is awesome! There is more to do than some people think. From what I remember gas is really expensivein the park , but it is available. There is aplace or two to eat. It still gets warm 90's in Oct. there but its cool up high.
I was there on 5-19-07. It was only 108 f*. We do this every year. (do it in one day, from so-cal) You can see how fast your bike go.
Best time when dessert flower blooming.
We do Death Valley every now and then ... but NOT in summer.
October may be okay ... Furnace Creek is a nice stopping spot formeals and even lodging nearby... you can go North to see Scotty's Castle or go into Beatty (cheap lodging? gambling) ... south of Furnace Creek is nice riding, too.
Have fun, explore ... but just in case, bring lots of water.
