Default Hey Springer

I notcied in Silversurfers post on Oregonians you stated you are on the East side of the state.
Just wonder'n where abouts,I went to High school in Bend and have family in Redmond and Paisley.
I get over that way several times a year and try and ride the backroads in Central & Eastern Oregon when I can.
I've covered nearly every paved road in Oregon by Harley at one time or another.

I live in a little town on the other side of Pendleton called Athena. It's about half way between Pendleton, Ore. and Walla Walla, Wa.

Do you get over on Wa. Hwy 14 and ride the Gorge often ?
It's one of my favorite haunts.
Lots of good riding over your way, I love 395 South down to Burns and 26 anywhere East of Prineville.
Blue Mts. and down through Sumter Valley,Arlington down to Spray,Halfway up to Wallowa Lake.
Anywhere around Baker city or LaGrand. Lots of uncrowded twisty mt. roads

I went up to La Grande on Memorial day and came back down the old highway. A lot of green trees and green grass, had the road pretty much to myself. I enjoyed just kicking back and enjoying the scenery. I've been down the gorge by way of Walla Walla a little and you're right, the river run is great. Some day I would like to go down to Mt. Hood and ride around there a little. By the way, my folks lived in Beaverton-Aloha area when St. Helens decided to blow her top. Sure made a mess of things. I was in Pendleton at the time and we had some of the ash up here. I've only had my Springer for little over a month, but I plan on lengthening out some of my trips as time goes on. Keep the rubber side down.

Let me know if'n you decide to do that,I know every road anywhere near Mt.Hood and would be happy to show ya some great riding in the area.
It takes me a couple hours to make The Dalles from my place.I sometimes leave early in the morn and ride all day making a loop of the area.Anywhere from 300 to 700 miles in a day depending on route and time spent.

When that Mt. Hood ride comes up, defenitely post it. I want to go for some decent rides before the weather gets nasty again. I am in Beaverton, so if you make it out this way, I'm ready to go. Always willing to ride if something comes up in my area.

I see that you live in Beaverton. My folks used to live between 198th and the TV highway. They have moved and I haven't been down there in years. I bet that it has really grown in all those years.

We live about 5 miles east of Sandy, Oregon off Hwy 26! If you guys do a Mt. Hood run, that would be in our neighborhood and we would love to go with, if you don't mind.

Hey that's right where I ran over a deer that a car in front of me hit and killed.I was riding two up and just leaving for Arizona for a week of riding.I couldn't believe we had a mishap within our first couple of hours on the road the first night out.
Your area is old family stomping grounds for me.
My Dad grew up on a homestead just up the mountain a ways from Cherryville .(not far from you folks)
His parents split up back in Indiana and he ,his li'l brother and his Mom came out to his Grandma's homestead by train back in 1919.
Later they sold the homestead and moved to a house in Sandy.
I'll shoot a post up here next time I take a spin up that way.

We love it up here. We live on HWY 26 (HWY 26 is our back yard. We pretend the sound of the traffic is the ocean.) in a small cabin that sits high above Cedar Creek. Luckily, we have only seen a couple deer out on the highway in the 6 years that we have lived here. We have some black bears that come up from the creek area and eat the berrys and apples in our yard. We love the bears, but are affraid they might head out to the road, so we built a very high, and long fence, hoping that will keep them out of the way of bikers (and cars too, I guess.)
There are a lot of roads to ride on up here, with many tight, fun turns and beautiful views. But, watch out for the critters, and the crazy dog out by Roslyn Lake that is trying to commit suicide!
