CVO PAN America

Just my opinion. This CVO option and dropping the standard is smart. Who walks in the HD dealers? Harley people that are used to relatively high prices. Their aging base has money, and a lot of them bought the PA, just for fun. IMO, they still need the PA975 to attract more traditional non-HD buyers. Hope it comes, cause I want one.
PS: I have never been a HD customer in 25+ yrs on bikes, but the PA1250 got me, and I absolutely love it and will keep it and the 975 to do different things. BUT the 975 has to be weight competitive (475).

True Dan, I probably should have said 'disposable income' or 'nothing better to do with their money'.
Dan, so your 2nd new bike ever? Why did you buy the PA, just curious.
IMO, if someone can only have one bike 'for fun' they likely are not buying a Harley anything.
BUT, the 975PA at say $12-15K could bring younger ADV buyers? That's the number for the hot middle-weight ADV segment.
The honda transalp is the new leader at $10K for cost conscience 'one bike' buyers. Want the best segment performance leader? KTM 890 at $13-15K. BUT gremlins too if you're willing to deal with it, a lot do. After I pointed out the 'issues' with my going-out-of-warranty 790 adv R, the buyer said "it comes with the territory to dance around the edges of the best" He's right.
The 975PA could compete here, especially with lessons learned from 1250PA. But the most important thing, to me, is Harley replacing the agers.
Just my two cents.

hmmmm, now I'm thinking maybe it won't sell? I just did the online build for a '24 PAS w/laced wheels and adaptive ride height = $22,849 msrp.
Granted the CVO version is completely loaded up and with some extra aesthetics.
I'm very disappointed there is no 975 PA. I'll buy something else.

I like the CVO, just not sure I like it enough though...
I want to say I paid 26K TT&L for my '21 (it was the dealer "floor demo" so they put EVERYTHING from the parts catalog on it). I only found my spreadsheet with a total of $5,300+ in parts but not my dealer paperwork.
I'm looking at a more street orientated version and I can equip that for just under $24K how I want it.
I'm still not 100% sure I'll get another PanAm though, same fuel pump and the chain is a big negative for me.

Quoting myself, yes, but just to continue on this point: the Nightster is an $11,999 Harley with a 975 engine and weighs 462 pounds (wet weight 481). So it certainly seems plausible that they could deliver a PA975 at a reasonable weight and reasonable price point.

Yeah, wishful thinking that wasn't part of their 'news' today. Sucks.

Chain is a personal thing, I only had 1 chain replacement but having to check it every 500 miles is a pita. I had several trips that required stops to check the chain (to cover my *** for warranty purposes), I did a couple of Iron Butt's and several long weekends (1K plus).
