Hi There I have a 1948 Pan it just started Smoking more on start up. The bike OK when Riding no smoke, but when you stop and let it tick over then rev it up you will get white smoke agen. I have done a Compression test it 115psi on both and plugs are black. I have also messed around with the mixture and that has improved the smoke issue alot but it still there. Basically what I need to know is safe to ride a bike that burn oil And is gonna cause damage or just smoke. One more thing Does it make sense Pulling the top end apart or should I just live with bit smoke it is 72years old

what weight oil is in it - we use 60 weight and add a 1/2 quart of Lucas

the plugs look as if its a ring set or valve guide issue - turn the hi speed clockwise 3 clicks only and they are short - it will lean it out a bit

 

When I purchased bike it come from a vintage harley dealerI he told me use this. I am in the united kingdom mind it hard find lot stuff here
