Repairing chips and scratches, even cracks Anniversary editon
Unfortunately, I have a 2003 Anniversary silver/black tank with a small chip. Also have a black anniversary tour pack I got hosed on, some fine paint cracking, clear chipped off around the lid edge, etc. I have read so many threads, I don't know which to even follow. I have tried a vivid black touch up and clear once, the results were not great. Any advice for me in Tampa? I would REALLY like to do myself and learn how without ruining my parts.
Repair vendors, producers, even ned repair guys, anything helps.
Thank you.

Did you put 3 or 4 "coats" of black, then follow up with 3 or 4 coats of clear? Thiink of how the bike was painted in the first place. I like to use a book of matches for rock chip touch up. Rip one off and use the fuzzy end (of course) for the paint. Try to tip the tin so the chip area is horizontal so the paint doesn't flow toward gravity. Wait 20 minutes between "coats" and same with clear.

To be honest, I picked a touch up pen and clear for a vivid black tank on Ebay. The black didn't quite match. I'm not in the know about who sells the best kit? The tank here is 15 years old. I am sure there is some fade, but it does not look too "used" except for the turd in the punch bowl in the pic. It is a damn nice tank, and pricey as heck new.
