I have been searching for the correct paint code for my 2003 Harley Electraglide FLHT 100th Anniversary Edition. I'm pretty sure the color code is 9850 but I have found 2 different names under that same code. One calls it "Jet Black" and the other "Vivid Black". Are they the same?
I've been looking for a gunmetal blue tank for my 100th Anniversary FXST and most of the ones I see on Ebay are Vivid Black. My girlfriend has a Duece and that's Vivid Black, as well as the bags we just got off EbaY. To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen the black color refered to as anything but 'vivid black'. Never heard of Jet, but it might be a tie-in to an older color from a different year?
Isn't the 2003 anniversary edition Vivid Black and Gun Metal Pearl two-tone?
Close, but not quite. The gunmetal bikes were all solid gunmetal. Then there was a solid vivid black option and finally, a two-tone black and silver option (looks just like the NFL raiders colors, I kid you not). Most of the Anniversary bikes were solid Vivid Black, then the next most popular was Gunmetal and finally, the Silver-and-Black bikes (which you don't see as often as the other two).
Yep, mine is all black. So I'm taking it that it is "vivid" black and not this "jet" black I have also found. I guess as long as the numbers (9850) are right I'll be ok.
Thanks "Conroskie"! I'm 50 years young and this is my very first Harley! I've been a motocross person all my life.....still am but to old for that stuff now. Actually when I bought this bike a few weeks ago it was the very first time I had even driven a Harley. Wow what an experience!
