Primary Noise

Primary Noise
Bike is a 2012 FLHTK will barely over 12K. I purchased the bike used when it had a little over 10K. Due to health issues I haven't done a lot of riding lately but plan on a couple long trips starting this spring. Here is the issue:
Primary noise only when killing the motor (turning ignition switch to off). If the bike is cold, like now 42 degrees, if I get it hot; primary noise when killing the motor. If I just let it run for a minute or two, then kill it, no noise from the primary.
Is there some kind of a primary chain tensioner that keeps the chain adjusted?
If that part were worn would that cause the noise?
Is a loud clanking noise common with these 103 motors when turning off a HOT motor?
I do appreciate any advice anyone can provide.
