clutch question
The clutch in my 95 Softail is in need of work and I picked up a complete Barnett setup in a trade. I went out this morning to pull mine apart and noticed a finger missing on the clutch hub. I've never done one of these in a bike but common sense says stop right there. Right??

If the clutch you just got has good disks and plates, just use them, you don`t need to replace the entire clutch assembly, maybe use that Barnett spring too.
That old hub is worthless, but don`t toss that outer shell if it is undamaged, those things are expensive (most expensive part in the clutch assembly).
You will need to compress the clutch spring in order to remove the circlip that secures the clutch spring.
Motion Pro, Barnett, Jims, George`s Garage, all sell clutch spring compressors.

Well I couldn't break the compensator bolt loose using wooden primary locking tools last night. So this morning I went to town and bought a 1 1/2" W x 1/4" thick piece of steel flat bar to make a steel locking tool. I also bought a 1/2" impact wrench in hopes of breaking the tough sob loose.
When I get the compensator bolt off I will take both clutch baskets to my Indy and have him check the condition of the Barnett basket internals. Hopefully the disks and plates are good and I can use them.

There's a leak on the back side of the inner primary that I have to see about while I'm this far into it so it has to come apart anyway.
The impact brought the compensator bolt off easily enough. I tried the flat bar and a 1/2" breakover first and I bent the 1/4' flat bar.

Keep in mind when re-assembling (tightening) the front compensator nut that the impact works like a hammer and dead blows to the nut can transfer to the magnets of the charging system that can weaken the magnets causing the charging system to weaken..... This actually happened to me on a relatively new setup....
