Primary fluid level

Primary fluid level
Removed my chain case to inspect chain, tensioner etc.
was informed if only changing fluid to fill with 38oz. If removing case fill with 45oz.
i refilled to the below reference line. And it only took the 38oz.
surprised the book and others said to add the full 45 oz.
are they adding to a different reference point?
just posting as an FYI as I’m glad I didn’t just dump all 45 oz in there.

Was bike standing straight up or on the jiffy stand? As long as the fluid is at the line and done per the manual your good to go. Your manual probably says standing straight up when checking level. That"s how it is worded in my manual, but my bike is a little older than yours...and I wonder if different models vary a little in how much total volume to be added. YD
