Default Rear Drive pulley Question

Is there a left hand and right hand drive pulley?

I have a 98 Softail - Installing a 250 wide tire swing arm kit and need a 20 mm belt and pulley - Left hand drive

Using stock front drive pulley - 132 tooth 20 mm belt - 65 or 66 tooth rear pulley

Any input is appreciated
Thank you

What is your issue? I am assuming it's a clearance problem. Pulleys don't care which side they are on. The trans does though. There are offset pulleys if you need to go out a little. Remember everything will have to be spaced accordingly.

Thanks for the reply
I wasn't sure if the pulleys were machined different for left and right hand drive. My problem right now is the belt and pulley combo I was told to use 70 tooth pulley with a 132 tooth belt - the axle is to short to fit the swing arm. I figure going to a 65 or 66 tooth pulley will allow the axle to fit properly for belt adjustment. so here's another question. Ratio - 5 speed trans 132 tooth belt 66 tooth pulley will most likely slow the bike down a bit. I have a spacer kit so once my belt and pulley problem is solved i should be able to set the proper clearance. thanks for the input.

Hmmm, if the axle doesn't fit now going to a lower tooth count pulley won't help. Did the axle come with the 250 kit?

Sorry if I didnt explain this correctly. The axle fits left to right in the swing arm just fine. because of the 70 tooth pulley the 132 tooth belt is to short. Going to a 65 or 66 tooth pulley will be a smaller diameter making the belt longer allowing the axle to fit

Ah ha, got it now. By going down in tooth count on the rear you will lose torque and lower the rpms. Going to a 66 will be about 6% torque loss and 200 rpm drop at 70 mph. If you are not comfortable with that then go with a longer belt. 134 tooth should work.

Looks like a stock 98 Softail comes with a 132 tooth belt with a 70 rear pulley and a 32 tooth front pulley. It should fit.

Did you try that combo with the 250 kit?
