New to the forum/primary belt questions
Hello everyone, this is my first post here and also my first Harley. I have a 1975 Super Glide FX 74 cube shovel. It’s a barn find and last ran maybe 17-18 years ago. When it last ran some idiot tried to do a burnout and broke the primary belt which brings me to my question...
As far as I know this would have been a chain primary? I would appreciate any help in identifying the proper belt for this conversion. I am not at the bikes location but my retired Father and a friend are taking some measurements for me. It seems to be an 1 1/2” wide belt, I don’t have a tooth count on the pulleys yet, or a pitch measurement. I’m wondering if this is a factory drive from a later model or aftermarket? The broken belt is long lost so no chance of identifying that way. I also asked them to run a piece of 1/4” rope around the pulleys for an overall length measurement.
Here’s a couple pics and thanks in advance

I bought a new FX1200 in 1974 and can assure you that it had a chain primary. It also had a dry clutch with a drip oil feed to the primary chain (and another feed to the rear chain) plus a 'dry sump', in other words the engine oil pump kept the chaincase 'dry' by pumping all excess oil out of it. A common mod is to do away with that feature and run a wet clutch, like later bikes. We have a dedicated section for shovelhead models and I recommend you call in, to see what is going on, as there may be some experts able to help you out.
If you are planning to get your bike running again I strongly recommend getting the genuine factory service manual.
I see a lot of familiar features there! My bike had a smaller tank, with speedo and tacho mounted above the headlight.
