my 04 ultra broke a belt at 5500 miles! and after harley installed a new one it broke that one 6 months later! what the hell is up?
im not hot rodder, i take it easy on this thing, i cant understand it. HELP!!!!!!
The only belt I'm aware of is the Drive Belt, your Primary should have a chain unless you've changed to a dry clutch/belt drive. If you have been breaking the Drive Belt I'd say you have a issue with either pulleys or alignment and would question the dealer for fixing the result not the cause.
sounds to me like you mean drive belt. rocks ect can fly up and take out a belt. a friend lost his yesterday on an 05 se glide from a pebble. thats an expensive pebble
Look at your belt and see if you have any evidence that it took a rock or something to cause it to break. You also might want to look at your drive gear to see if it has any sharp edges or teeth that have sharp spots that can also cause it to break. Make sure your rear wheel is aligned properly and also , if you can...look into the primary to see if there might be something in there causing it to break. I had 53000 miles on my softail and it had the factory belt on it with no signs of much wear. You might want to take it to a different dealer if yours can't find anything wrong with it. Broken belts in the long haul are no fun.
