I went with a 34 tooth. Amazing how just that little bit bigger drops the rpms at hwy speeds and I barely noticed it in 1st. Just wound a bit longer and the shift point was a tad higher on the speed. Nothing really.

Not at all. Many miles two up with a loaded tall touring bag and full saddlebags. I get on it now (it's now my wife's) and just grin because it's still fast.

No, the main shaft does not come out by itself. The gear set needs to be pulled but it is designed to be pulled as “a package”.

Time to start digging into a factory service manual to see how the gear set is removed.

However, you might be able to use the main shaft that you have. You will just have to go back to the factory stock inner primary bearing set up that uses the pressed on sleeve.

The sleeve (bearing race) may cover up the cuts in the main shaft.

You still need to pull gear set to replace the 5th main drive gear and bearing. No getting around that.

Maybe (big maybe) your inner primary can be reused, but need a better pic of the damage.

The shaft was ruined on mine as well as the center spun out on the sprocket. Too many power shifts to 2nd with those long burnouts! I banged 2nd one time too many and it let go. It was like hitting neutral. Expensive lesson too far from home.

I'd like to say I won't hammer this one like that but I probably will it's a really nice bike especially for a 94 man it's clean I wasn't crazy about it at first its real and chrome but it looks good. My boy was gonna sell it I couldn't stand to see it go. Maybe after to get this done I will build a hot rod it's gonna be a hard choice cause I really want a shovel
