Primary Chain hitting case
So I thought it would be fun to convert my 2007 Dyna Street Bob to a chain drive. This evening when I removed my primary cover I saw some obvious wear marks on the inside of the case just under and slightly behind the compensator.
What would cause this, the chain tensioner, is the crank causing the compensator to wobble and hit it?
Is this fixable?
This is the original tensioner and the first time the primary has been opened since I bought the bike new in late 06. the bike has just over 12,000 miles on it. Ya I was gone a lot for work and then had small children so didn’t ride it much.
hopefully someone can give me some solid advice.

How much slack is in the chain? I believe the spec is 5/8 inch at it's tighest spot cold. So you need to check the slack in several places because the amount of slack will vary as it moves around the sprockets.
Another thing to check is if any of the links are binding of stiff. But you will need to remove the chain to check that corectly.

It’s stock. I bought the bike new off the showroom floor 20 years ago and it’s never been opened.
I’ll double check the service manual and measure the slack. Thanks. This is the first time opening it up.

Even with the automatic adjuster? I that that was the whole point of it.
