Default RoadKing primary belt drive who dun it?

Has anyone converted their primary to a 3" belt drive on a RoadKing? If so What brand did you use and how much did it cost? Do you like it and would you do it again? Thanx for your answers.

I have been kicking around the idea of doing this since i picked up my bike. I've foundall of the belt-drive parts to make it work, and actually got to the point of having my local shop order them. I cancelled the order the same day because I don't know what needs to be done tokeep the shifter working.

THe BDL drive woudl be cool - but it does NOT have a place for the forward mounted shifter pivot to mount - meaning I have to have something fabricated specifically for the task. I'm sure that I could figure out a way to make it work - but without actually buying the BDL, and finding-out just what is going to be necessary... I can't get any sort of estimate for fabrication. I REALLY don't wanna drop the $$"s on the drive - only to find that someone is going to want like another $500 to fabricate the part i need. So, I'm kinda stuck.

I have talked to BDL twice, and they say that people have got it to work...but offer no other info. Not even a shop that they know completed the job.

jumpman have you checked Karata or primo. I saw one manufacture that had the pivot for you shifter but I don't remember which one it was. I run a suicide shift so thats not a problem for me.

Well I must be definitelly insane, cause I run a Suicide shift and a Kicker on mine with no front fender, and a chromed carbide saw blade for a A/C cover. Home made exhaust with tins to the rear painted the same color as the bike. Since I like it, doesn't matter what others think of it.

I have given SERIOUS thought to running a jockey shift.

I figured that would be an easy way around the problem. I've not ridden a suicide shift before, so - that has kinda been a concern.

Would like to see pics of your bike tho... All of the pics I have seen of RK's with an open belt have covers over them...and I want mine 'full open'.

I have seen the Katara, but it's WAY more pricey than the BDL I can get thru my local shop.

Nothing can ever be easy.

Thanks dragon I like what I saw in your post. Nicest belt drive I've seen for a bagger.
