Default Broken Aftermarket Clutch Lever

Help

Anyone out their heard of a clutch lever breaking in half under normal operating conditions.
I provide insurance for aftermarket motorcycle products and we have a
guy that is claiming that he was just sitting there in gear with the clutch in and the lever just snapped in half and then He and the bike went flying forward.. Supposedly the clutch was operatiing smoothly and the lever had been on the bike some time and had not had any damage from the bike previuosly tipping over etc..
I have never heard something like this happening before and just thought I would check out there to see if anyone else has ever had a simliar situation.
Thanks

Hmmmm. First post. Get it sent to you and evaluate the fracture. If there was a large void in it maybe, but otherwise in normal use it would be impossible to break it if the metal is consitant throughout. If it's a billet machined part, no way it will break. More than likely he had personal lube on his hands at the time and slipped off the lever.

buddy`s had one break like that. part was chromed and may have had a hairline fracture with stress added to from the chroming process.looked like it was actually cut using a saw, clean no jagged edges and a dull grey, pasty appearance inside

It happened to me once. My insurance company was ordered to pay me 3.2 million dollars, and that was 3 years ago.
If the guy is willing to settle for less, you better try and settle out of court and save your company some cash.
