Default 01 Deuce Oil Change....sigh

In before buy a service manual.....

I'll pick one up this weekend but I just wanted to make sure i"m on the right track and right amounts specific to the deuce. I just bought it and the guy said it's been sitting for 6 months so I thought I'd better change the fluids.

Engine- 2.5 qts 20W50
Drain thru plug,
Remove/replace filter w/ 4oz of oil in new filter
replace plug w/ new o-ring
Fill thru dipstick hole

Primary- Little less than a qt of 20W50
Drain thru plug and replace with new plug(??)
Remove prim. chain insp. cover and check chain tightness
Fill thru insp cover
Replace gasket if needed

Tranny- Little less than a qt of 75W90 gear oil
Drain thru plug
Replace plug O-ring
Fill thru tranny dipstick hole (i'm pretty sure I know where this is but a little confirmation might save me some time).

Thanks for the help and any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hey gixxer dont know if you read all your welcomes im the one who had the other gixxers, then got that deuce. I wish i still had my manual with exact specifications for ya, I would throw this at you. i switched to syn 3 in my tranny case and left formula plus in the jugs i thought it shifted smoother little more expensive but hey its just my two cents...

call you local dealer if your not sure about amounts
heres my old deuce

Thanks for the reply. I took a look yesterday and I think I figured it out.

I'm having one issue with the bike and I don't know if it's normal or the primary chain might be loose. But when I'm at lower RPM's or coasting to a stop it's pretty jumpy. I'll check the chain tightness when I change the oil out this weekend.

When I change the fluids I just run 3q in the engine. 1q in primary and 28 oz in trans. Pretty simple!

You got your specs wrong buddy. transmission takes 18-21oz.
use one whole quart in the primary and use remaining fluid from trans quart in primary. this is a level and not quantity spec. oil level should be at bottom of clutch spring. If you cant find where to fill the tranny you should have someone qualified do the work for you.
P.S. dont pull the plug in the bottom of the engine case. permanent oil leak will result and you wont drain the oil that way anyway.
