Apples and Oranges.
The OP has a 5 speed, and the 5 speeds don`t have that problem.

Another question: if you cut the nut, which I more than likely won't do, do you still have to remove the race?
???? If you do, then how you gonna get the new nut back on?

Face it man, you gotta remove the race to get at the O ring oil seal & quad seal behind the pulley.

If it's the expensive race remove/replace tools you're concerned about, bear in mind the race is very hard, but very brittle. You can carefully score it lengthwise with a Dremel, whack it with a chisel, and it will usually crack cleanly along the score line. Then its removable by hand.

Then to avoid buying a race install tool (although you can fab one up easily) you might consider replacing the OEM IBP/race setup completely with a Baker Hi-Torque bearing upgrade or an
All ***** IBP bearing upgrade All ***** IBP bearing upgrade
($18 including primary seal!) I went with the All ***** upgrade myself, and have no regrets so far (8K on it). Just a suggestion. Good luck.

The pulley fits over the race. You only need to remove the race in order to replace the main drive gear/mainshaft seal.

Yes. It is loose, I think the shaft may have slid back in the case a tad, as I can't even get the nut to thread back on.
And it is not a left hand thread like the manual says it is....

If I need that fancy puller, how did this guy get the sprocket off, and back on, with that bearing race still installed?

See the picture.

See the picture.
Thread the old nut back on and use a heal bar to pull it back out.

The threads on the main drive gear most certainly are left hand.

And for the third time:

The bearing does not need to be removed in order to pull off the pulley, the pulley will fit over the bearing.

Yeah. I know that. But the NUT won't fit over the race, which is why I need the puller.

Is there another nut behind the pulley? The nut in my picture came off via lefty loosey, and goes on righty tighty.

There is no nut behind the pulley. The pulley must be stuck on the splines, they are probably buggered up...

All HD 5 speed transmissions have a left hand threaded nut holding the pulley onto the main drive gear.
