Default R/R Countershaft Needle Bearing

First time for me to R/R the needle bearing in the clutch side of the trans case that carries that end of the countershaft. The bearing seals that side of the case so proper installation would seem important to avoid post install leaks. I think I can drive the bearing out but looking for a tool to push the bearing in. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has R/Rd this bearing.

An appropriate size socket, just slightly smaller than the diameter of the hole.

Just drive the old one out, and drive the new one in, from the outside.

Dan,
Thanks; you have mail but disregard. I have been told that I should press that bearing out but didn't see why I couldn't R/R the bearing by driving it out. My concern was that by driving it in, it could go in cockeyed but I will freeze it and give it a try.

BTW, you should have warned me about those pesky snap rings on the main and counter shaft; what a PITA. I was able to use a set of ring expander pliers to R/R them. That big snap ring that retains the mainshaft bearing was too much for either of my sets of snap ring pliers. I bought a cheap set of locking needle nose pliers for $3.00 and worked over the ends to make a pair that would work; now I have a "specialty" too.

Main drive gear is installed but waiting for needle bearings and one bearing for the shift drum pillow block; I ordered one.

We use an arbor press here at the shop but we also have the case out of the bike. Getting it **** eyed will be tuff to do as it is a tight fit, just make sure the outside of the bearing is flush with the case once installed.

Thanks Mark, I don't see how I can get the bearing cockeyed once it is in the bore. I am just a bit **** about that stuff.
