tips for trip to Alaska from Minnesota
I'm hoping to go to Alaska this summer on my Ultra Classic and looking for tips from those who have done it before. Thinking of doing this alone and not with other bikers….good idea or not?? Any other tips on things to take, things to see, routes, etc would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am thinking I will probably leave July 5th. I head up our fireworks display on the 4th so need to be here for that and would take off after that. Don't know a definite route yet but thinking I would go through Banff and the Canadian Rockies on the way up. Probably go through Glacier Park on the way. I may stop at Haines Alaska on the way as I have a firefighter friend there. Thanks for any ideas you may have. Appreciate it.

If you want to tour through mountains you will enjoy this, we do and take it every opportunity we can.
Take Hwy 17 in Montana to Chief Mountain Border Crossing.
In Canada it becomes Hwy 6, make your way north to Hwy 22.
On Hwy 22 at Longview head west on Hwy 541 which turns into Hwy 40. It meander's along and spits you out on Hwy 1, Trans-Canada Hwy.
Head west to Hwy 93, The Icefields Parkway up to Jasper.
From Jasper you could head to Hwy 40 north and make your way to Alaska.
There are plenty of things along this route to see, depending on your interests and time.
