Kansas city to Sturgis thru the Sand Hills and Badlands?
Anybody know of a good route that takes you from KC Thru the Nebraska Sand Hills and into the Badlands then on to Sturgis? I've take I-29, I-80 up to Hwy2 thru the Sand Hills up to 385 into Sturgis. Thats a nice ride. Trying to figure out how to get into the northeast entrance of the Badlands from the Sand Hills and then ride the loop around the park and wind up in Sturgis. Thanks, HMT

Take hwy 2 from Grand Island, Nebraska to Thedford, Nebraska. Turn north on hwy 83 toward Valentine. Head north from Valentine on hwy 83 north until you get to White River. Turn west on hwy 44 at White River. Take hwy 44 all the way to Interior, SD. You can take hwy 240 and go through the Badlands Park, or stay on hwy 44 into Rapid City. Hwy. 44 is on the reservation but I have never had any problems. Not much traffic and not many gas stations along the way. We will be spending the night in Valentine, Nebraska on Wednesday August 3. It's fun to party with people staying in Valentine for the night heading to Sturgis. More the merrier. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks for the reply harleyhusker. That seems like a good way to go. Looking at the map, I see the route now. It sounds like a good time but we will already be in Sturgis by August 3rd probably staying till Saturday or Sunday. Then we are heading up to Yellowstone or Red Lodge for a few days. You all have fun and be safe.
