Hello! My wife and are wanting to go to Yellowstone and Southern Utah (Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, etc) after we leave Sturgis. Where do you think we should spend more time. We are going to stay in the Sturgis area for about 3 days or so and have 14 or so days for the whole trip to get back to Indiana.
We are trailering the bikes from Indiana to Sturgis. (Driving straight thru)
That is an extremely aggressive ride from Indiana. Not sure it can be done in 10 days. Especially with 3 days in Sturgis. But if you try, I would suggest heading west from Sturgis on I-90 to Billings, then down to Red Lodge and over the Beartooth Pass. Beautiful ride. Once over the pass you can enter Yellowstone just west of Cooke City. Ride down through Yellowstone and on down past the Tetons to Jackson, WY. If you take this route I doubt you will have time for southern Utah. By the time you spend a night in Jackson it will be time to head home. Good luck and have a safe ride.
With trailering to Sturgis and stretching your time out to 14 days it should give you sufficient time to make your travel destinations.
I live in South Dakota and have traveled around Wyoming a lot. (have a sister in the Buffalo area) If I can answer any questions please feel free to email me.
Well, my wife and I decided to just do Sturgis and Yellowstone this trip. I know there have been a few posts about Yellowstone. I think we are going to tent camp. Any suggestions, thoughts etc for our trip from Sturgis to Yellowstone and back to Sturgis would be greatly appreciated! Food, places to see etc. We will spend 3-4 days in and around Yellowstone.
Thers a lot to see around Yellowstone. The Tetons are just south and Jackson Wy.is just southof the Tetons. The only bad thing about that area is the traffic, herds of motor homes, campers and Vans driving very slow.
Half of Utah is one national park or another. If you can, take 261 noth of Mexican hat and hwy 12north of Bryce canyon. Utah has some awsome riding.
Take the bosses number so you can call in to get more days, your gonna want them.
What part of Indiana are you from? We are doing the same trip but we are going the week before sturgis. We have rented a room at a lodge in Cooke City and are planning rides out from there every day.
