My Grandma made homemade pasties when I was a youngster. She solved this dilemma. She would add the gravy inside the pastie and then baked them. The ketchup was the iceing on the cake. By the way, Hunts is better then Heinz.

Beef/Potato is the only real pasty! The others are just sad imposters.
Stop at the Crossroads Bar at the intersection of 480/553 when up here. About 15 miles North of Gwinn heading to Marquette. They have pretty good ones.

I may regret it but I ordered Sena bike to bike headsets last night so I can communicate with the wife on her bike on this trip. Want to be able to stop easily if one of us sees something of interest.

Is it your first time across the Mackinaw Bridge? My wife was a little ruffled on her first trek across on her own, and she still doesn't like when its rainy or windy.

Anyone making or eating a pizza pastie should be struck down. That's worse then cussing in church.
I never! The next thing will be some PC fool pushing out a diet, low fat, vegetarian pastie with low salt ketchup.

I'm sure my wife crossed it many times by car and we crossed it together in a car sometime in the 80's but neither has done it by bike. We're both seasoned riders and she is fearless so should not be an issue. We may or may not even make it to the bridge depending on time and weather while there. Not coming up or heading home that direction as I avoid Chicago like the plague!!!!

Farther East in order are...Tahquamenon falls, Soo Locks and Mackinac Bridge. Other nice roads in the Gwinn area are M-35 toward Marquette and County 550 (Big Bay Rd) from Marquette to Lake Independence.
H-58 is the best road in the area, stumbled on it by accident and had to ride it in both directions it was so nice.
