My good fortune, going to Daytona
I lived in Daytona for 25 yrs. before returning to IN 15 yrs. ago, for family.
I get excited about returning to DB to see many old friends, along with bike week. I recently purchased a trailer camper and was looking forward to hauling it, with bike in PU bed, to DB. I found out too late that the cheap camp sites, like Tomoka State Park, $23.00/ night are booked nearly a year in advance for bike week and campgrounds also are way jacked up to pack you into a mud hole. I opted for Tomoka SP for the week after bike week and settled for at least getting to see old friends.
After connecting with a few friends I found out I have a friend who has a property in Samsula, just So. of DB, approx. 1 mi. from the Cabbage Patch.
He said come on down, you can park camper on my property and I can hook you up with water and elec. Hence My good fortune. I will be leaving early enough to catch bike week and end up spending about six weeks in Fl. this trip.
Haven't seen much chatter about Daytona this year, anybody else going?

I'm going and would like to do the same as you but haven't made any reservations because things change around my house. So guess I'll just pack up the saddle bags and ride down if I'm able to and just hope to find a place to sleep. Thanks for the info about the no campsites available for campers.

I love the SCUBA diving there. Everybody goes to Mallory Square for drinks at sunset. (Key West)

I would suggest, as long as you have electric, take extension cords, a small elec. fan, a small elec. or gas heater (weather can be warm and cold in March) an elec. grill or induction cook top, to save your gas, an ice cooler for beer and food, a couple of folding chairs and mosquito repellent.
That would be a minimal list for me. Have fun. A lot of partying goes on at Crackleberry/ Cabbage patch. Don't expect to sleep much!
