What price? It's a Colorado highway and absolutely free to ride.

??? I had assumed he was talking about the million dollars they say it took to build the road Which might have been a lot of money then but not very much now that will only get you about 2 miles Or less in those hills, What a beautiful highway ,money well spent,

From Wikipedia, "The origin of the name Million Dollar Highway is disputed. There are several legends, though, including that it cost a million dollars a mile to build in the 1920s, and that its fill dirt contains a million dollars in gold ore."

Rode it about two weeks ago on a Tuesday. I was going south to north, Silverton to Ouray. Will post a video shortly. Had it to myself for long stretches. I eventually got behind two larger trucks pulling trailers and also had to wait around 5 minutes when the road went to one lane for construction.

Post edit: oops, this is just south of Ouray pn 550, not Box Canyon.

When you go, make time to stop in Ouray and do the Box Canyon tour. $5 per person, well worth it.

I will be going thru to this road in a couple weeks. I’d like to know which direction is the best way to go. Is it South bound or North bound?
Thanks.

Ride it both ways. I've rode it both ways several times and never tire of the scenery.
