Default Soggy weekend in Smoky Mountains

Planned to meet up with a couple of riding buddies from Ohio in Pigeon Forge, TN last weekend. Weather was kinda iffy so I rented a trailer for the trip out.

Good thing I did -- ran into rain on the way out AND the way back. Sat and Sun were washouts, but Fri and Monday were near perfect for riding. Got to see some wildlife in Cade's Cove - turkeys, bears, deer...

Some interesting landscaping along our route...

Revisited the Cherohala Skyway...

Rode the Foothills parkway, including the new part...

and checked out Bald River Falls near Tellico Plains.

All in all a pretty good trip despite the weather.

5X9 ramp trailer. The newer models have a wheel chock of sorts in the front. As it was, my front wheel wandered to a side over bumps, causing me to stop periodically to straighten it up. Secured it with additional straps once I smartened up.

Nice. I avoid rain if possible , if it not I gear up and ride right through it. I have the Harley Davidson Premium rain suit and it is really good at keeping you dry even though a little expensive.

I've ridden plenty in the rain and my H-D Hi-Viz rain suit has kept me dry most of the time...as long as I put it on before I'm drenched. This trip was 9+ hours, mostly interstate, riding solo, with a good chance of rain out and back. Doable, but easier to stay dry in the Jeep.

How much was it to rent that trailer? I might need to do that someday.

Advertised price was $24.95 per day. Worked out to about $36 per day with tax and insurance. I spent $217 for 6 days. For me, for this trip, it was worth it.

Did you maintain that "55" MPH speed limit posted on the trailer?

Just Curious!

Haha! I MAY have inadvertently exceeded the recommended speed limit a few times, but I’ll deny it if they ask.
