Hot weather riding a Question

I tried the one sold by Cycle gear in the states. It works ok ... but I think my mesh jacket works just as good. The cooling vest was heavy. I also tried the Veskimo. That worked bettter than the cooling vest ..but was simply a pain. And if you not riding a bike big enough to carry it, well.. you cant use it.

I use one with my mesh jacket when riding in dry heat.
Desert riding is way more comfortable, it will last a 1-2 hours before you need to soak it in water again.
I take a gallon zip lock bag, put vest in and pour in a water bottle when on the road. When there is a sink available I soak it in there.

I have 1 of the cooling vest. It doesn't work that good for me. I bought a veskimo used. I built a larger container out of a ice chest for it. It will hold about 8 pounds of ice. Turn that valve on and the ice water is cold. It will freeze you out if left on all the time. I have
a timer for it that regulates the cold water flow. He's right about it being a pain to use but I can go for hours before having to dump out the water and get more ice. Man that cold water feels good against your skin when its sweltering out. I only use it if its in the high 90's or above. We have high humidity here in Missouri. In low humidity areas a cooling vest might work ok.
