Have always wanted to make this trip on our bikes, but never could, now it looks as though we'll make it this Sept. Wondering if that is a good time of the year to make it, or should we plan it earlier, or later? Also any ideas on the best route to take from Little Rock, Arkansas, going west? Would like to make mostly off-interstate riding, prefer to stay on side roads, slower moving highways... time to complete the trip is not a factor... depending on when we plan it for. Any hints/ideas on locations to avoid, or make sure we hit on the way would be greatly appreciated also.

 

It will be HOT in the desert in September but still sounds like a killer ride...
