Default early April FL trip

As I've stated before wife & I are going to FL in April via GA hwy 441.
Any advice on this route such as where to eat, where to stay,or what to
avoid would be appreciated.

when you get into Fla. after you go thru Lake City look for the town of Alachua, turn right on main street and look for the Conastoga resturant- Good Eating! Then south of Gainesville, Visit Micanopy. It's worth seeing, Very old town with lots of shops. Ocala has motels and a Harley dealer right on 441. South of Ocala look for Webster It's got a Big flea market. Just some ideas. Have fun.

Me too! Heading to the Keys via Daytona,Stuart and Riviera Beach. April 4-22. Getting out of this God forsaken North Country of New England.

Any suggestions how to skirt Miami?

I take 27 to 997 straight shot to homestead. Mostly free of traffic once south of Sebring Or you can stay on 27 to the turnpike and get off at homstead onto us1

Leesburg Bikefest is good. Check out the website. April 24,25,26. We are going there from Ft. Lauderdale area, via the Smoky Mountains. Makes for a nice trip (3,000 miles)and a Bikefest at the end.

Checked it out and looks like a plan, thanks. Figured cutting over to 27 just south of Ft Lauderdale on 595 west? Looks like the closest cut over.

Madison or Milledgeville, Georgia are a great places to stop for lunch. Each is a scenic historic town that has several quaint restaurants and shops downtown.

to badinfluence63:
reconsider use of 595...if it is rush hour the traffic will be very aggressive..consider western crossover further north...non-rush hour is bearable.
also note that US27 from lake south/down to (997) is lonely and there is a stretch of about 35 miles with nothing but cane fields..good road..remember to get gas.
from lake okeechobee :US27 to (997) or route (#29) to tamiami trail and then (997) are probably the best ways to avoid traffic...(997) will spit you out at the very end..that end will be the beginning of keys.(get gas) then catch card sound road to the rest off the keys.
