My wife and I , each riding our own, are leaving from the Knoxville, Tn area. Mostly riding backroads to Saint Joseph. Planning on 3 days to go 750 miles. Have not been thru Mo. Went to St. Louis for a ballgame.
I will be going on the Pony Express leaving from Chicagoland and going to MO.
Here is some links I found that may help you too.

Rt. 36 is known as the pony express trail. I've ridden it all the way into Colorado from Cameron, MO. At the end it gets desolate. Make sure you have gas. I didn't stop at places, there are signs in the towns, which are not big town, along the way and there is pony express stuff to see. I'm sure someone has done their homwork on this. If you are coming from the east, just take Rt. 36 from Hannibal. It goes all the way across MO. and they are working to expand it to four lanes. It's a nice road. (It hooks in with I-72) If you are coming from the Indy area, do not take I-70 and come up. Take the I-72/74 and you will be on Rt. 36, which starts at Hannibal. This a nice road all the way. One 36, at Marcelin (sp?), MO. is Walt Diseny's home town. I live just north of Chillicothe, MO.
Two buddies and myself are leaving Austin area around the 12th. Should be a fun ride out and back. Previous HOG Posse rides have been great ( Lewis & Clark was my favorite so far, the lower 48 next-western was better than eastern). In this economy I doubt that this ride sold out, rather probably timed out. I hope to see many familiar faces from all the previous rides. Look for the guys with the Grey Goose Wodka at the ready
!! Now I am toying with taking the xbones instead of the street glide tho I am sure I would be second thinking that about a day and a half in.

Stay away from St. Louis if possible. U.S. 36 goes East-West across country Ohio to Utah. It also runs with several interstate systems. Everyone have a safe and enjoyable trip. The wife and I are both in Real Estate. Business if awful we won't be going anywhere for a while. But we will be watching your post and we will be with you in spirit.
