Default Black Hills SD - Where to stay?

I am planning a vacation for next year. Our 25 year aniv. There are lots of hotels so I figured I'd pick your brains. We're looking for a nice place. Where would you recommend?

Totally agree about Custer State Park. Also Look into the Alpine Inn in Hill City. They say it is haunted! But really the town of Hill City is great! Hill City is also close to a lot of places. Now my wife would tell you Deadwood! Can't keep her away from the tables!

In Deadwood, there is a historic old Motel that my wife and I stayed in a couple of years ago. Can't think of the name. The first floor is the casino. Deadwood is an interesting town to walk around the old business area. Trolley ride through town and to the cemetery where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried.

You might be thinking about the Franklin. I myself like Hill City. Alpine Inn is great for the noon meal with supper at the Roundhouse in Lead.

We stayed at the Best Western in Custer just two weekends ago and it was nice. Pool and hot tub also. Very close to Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore among other things.

Custer State Parks looks great. Never thought about looking for a place in a SP. We're thinking about the Sylvan Lake Lodge. Anyone stay there?

Absolutely beautifull place to stay!! Becarefull on the roads at night but it is nice. The roads getting to the lodge are so much fun! Going south from the lodge takes you to the town of Custer. You will be able to find anything you need!

My wife wanted everyday to go into Deadwood. She loves to gamble and the town is great. If you stayed in the lodge you are looking at 55 miles, I think one way. So what I am saying is look at the places you will be spending the most time and stay close to that area. If you don't care about that ride on a long day you can not beat the Lodge at Custer State Park!

The Bullock hotel in Deadwood is a really awesome place to stay. It's not too pricey either depending on when you go. God help you (and your wallet) if you go during the rally.
