Angry How much do you put in?

In July I bought a 16 SESG and I think something is wrong with my gas gauge. I am only getting about 200 miles on a tank of gas, now I think the sending unit is bad. The reason I think that is cause I regularly ride till it says I have 10 miles left and when I fill up I am only putting in 4.8 to 5 gallons of gas, and it fills my tank. I have taken it to two different dealers and they have both told me that is correct. If that is the case then why does the fuel capacity in the book say 6 gallons?

My wife's 13 street glide when on e gets 5.6 to 6 gallons of gas. We fill up at the same time and yesterday mine read e and I put in 4.8 gallons and hers was almost on e and it got 5.5 gallons. So my next step is contacting Harley directly but I just wanted to see what you guys are getting out of your tanks. My gas light comes on around the 170 to 175 mile mark, it just seems wrong to me.

Thanks
Kevin

Some food for thought. The 16 yammie has a fuel light that uses your prior trips to let you know what you use normally when the gas light pops on. Also how many miles? All bikes get better as their mileage increases. Started at 70 miles, now goes 100 before the fuel light.

The gas gauges on harleys are notoriously inaccurate. Use your trip meter.

Doesn't matter what the gauge says, if your fill ups only require 4.8 gal, you have 1.2 left.

Interesting. I ran mine dry and all I could get into it, even with shaking it side to side to get air bubbles out was 5.75.

This post is "tongue n cheek" humor, right?
