Good Deal?

Good Deal?
Long story short I won a 2008 CVO Ultra Limited this year. I had been a Victory rider that I bought new in 2001. Since winning the Harley, I have been loving the comfort and design and ride of the Harley. Me and the wife love to ride. We had to put about $1500 into the bike since winning, taxes, fuel check valve repair and fresh 5000 service. Ended up with the dreaded base gasket leak. Decided to trade it in for a 17 CVO. Got a price of $39,200 OTD for the new CVO and with the gasket leak offered $10,000 trade. Any opinions on the deal? Wife said since it was my birthday to go ahead and just buy the new one. So probably will do the deal just looking for some open discussion.
Thanks,

I just picked up my 2017 CVO SG. I paid $21500 OTD with first service and 20% off any parts bought that day. That was $15K trade on my 2012 SG. So it came out to $36500 OTD which included $1250 or so in taxes. Plus whatever they did with set up etc... I don't focus on that. Just the OTD.
But I have like 8 dealers close to me and had 2 of them competing with each other. The deal took 2 weeks and a ton of text messages. It went like Huey says he will do it for xxx. Mark would say tell Huey I'll do it for xxx. When Mark said I'm as low as I can go. then I pulled the trigger with Huey.
I'm Very happy with the 17

the 2008 had some issues, but so do the new ones. 07/08 had base gasket issue. Reality is that this would be an opportunity to freshen up the engine and address the other problematic areas of this bike (some of which continue on the latest generation).
With cylinders off to replace base gaskets, consider upgrading to 117" cylinders with appropriate cam set compression to match. Other option is to bore out current cylinders to 113", which has also been done frequently.
With heads off, the stock spring pressure needs to be addressed. Replace with beehive springs, replace valve guides and consider cleaning up ports to improve flow
Replace lifters with S&S
just has important, crank run-out needs to be measured. If more than 0.005", then crank should be addressed.
while this sounds like a lot of work and expense, this will create a very depending bike, although will still be a 2008.
While the new bike is nice, it will still need some investment as HD is not known for reliable out of the box products.
