it appears as you stated its a dealer problem not a market issue. and you have taken the correct course regarding supply and demand let the 6k stay in your pocket
the depreciation will slow down each year...keep riding it or find yourself another dealer. I consider trading my cvo every time I'm at the dealer and then I start thinking about all extras my bike has and all I'd be giving up and I leave happy...oh by the way does your wife have any sisters?
She does!
But she is married and lives in North Dakota, it was 17 degrees yesterday in N. D. I wouldn't want to be there.
I like my CVO just fine, I'm thinking I'll keep it.
My dealer had a used CVO on the floor a few years ago
and it it wasn’t selling. I asked why? They said used CVO’s are hard to move because people always want new ones. They know are going to drop
some serious coin and they do not want a “used” one.
The dealer in question had the exact same bike used on the floor a little over a month ago, same color but no additional goodies such as the factory matched tour pak and such, the tag price was 32K, now I am sure they didn't get that price, but, it sold, they made several thousand and it didn't sit long.
I am not unrealistic, I know I won't get my money out of the bike, but, if the dealer wants me to buy a new bike, they should be willing to work a little better than 2K above retail on the new bike and 6K below trade in on the old bike, not to mention finding the color I want.
IMO, best bet is going with a 1-2 year old CVO. Most CVO owners take great care of their bikes and add pipes, tune, etc. They take the initial depreciation hit. I will likely not lose in 5-8 years what they lost in 1-2.
