Default My first Harley Davidson.

I just bought my very first Harley Davidson last week. I have always rode sport bikes so I am new to owning a Harley. I have always loved the Road Kings and I picked a 2003 Road King CVO from a Harley Dealer. The Harley Dealer said they didn't offer a warranty since it was over 12yrs old but they did a complete service on it just recently. I was kind of hesitant to get it but couldn't pass it up. It only has 46,000 miles on it, the bike is in amazing looking shape, and it's a '03 with a screaming eagle 103. Anyways I have a couple questions since this is the my first Harley and a Harley is a foreign to me but I am trying to learn as much as I can.

My first question is, are their any mechanical issues with the '03 engine? I have been trying to find anything on the net talking about issues but have not been able to find any topics on this.
Would it be a smart idea to take it to a shop to have it looked through for any potential problems? I love this bike and want to avoid any problems I can.
What is the usual price for a shop to charge to go through your bike?
And my last question is do you use the same oil for engine oil, transmission oil, and in the derby? I have been watching some YouTube videos and some videos make it sound like you do and same make it seem like you don't.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

dealer charges $100 per hour give or take. yes you can use the same oil in all 3 holes or some companies offer different lube for the 3 holes.
congrats on your new ride hope you really like it like I do.

Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the forums from Ontario, Canada. If you're dealer went thru the bike, you have to trust them. You can take it back there, they'll always find something. Ride it, and get into the forums here, and enjoy. Had the 03 Anniversary for a while, went to an Ultra now.

Congrats!! I`d find and buy a 2003 service manual for your bike. It will come in handy to learn about your ride.

Welcome! Couple of us are around Seattle as well.

Once you're comfortable with it it might not be a bad idea to ride it a little hard, it gets the cobwebs out.
