Default 1982 FXRS opinions

Hello, looking for information /opinions on an 82 FXRS or 82 FXRS in general. I'm thinking about purchasing.Currently it's not running, has dual plug heads.A bit over 10,000 on the odometer are latter AMF devices prone to not work?

Unfortunately a ouija board will be necessary for the bikes history.

1982 was the first year 5 speed in the FX, is it to be avoided similar to the 2006 6 speed dyna? Not afraid to turn wrenches had a bunch of iron head 900's ,hope it's not a lemon.
Thanks

This is a non-running bike. IMO it is not worth the 5K asking price. How do you know it is nothing but a box of rocks inside the cases?

No history on the bike...so you are going to a stanger's word for it's condition....when it was supposedly in runnning condition? Yeah, right.

All those "extras" he listed don't mean dick.

Looks like from the description it is far from "stock" condition anyway.

$2500 maybe, but beyond that (Kali prices anyway) no way.

I always wonder why when these adds state that it "only needs XYZ to get it running", why they don't do XYZ and have it running.

I would never buy a non-running bike unless I knew it's history very well or got one heck of a good deal.

Exactly!!!!
Even just washing the bike would make a huge different... ant least put a new battery and try to start it!
Anyway... 5K is too much for a big ? bike

Thanks for the input. $2g is around what I'd be willing to go.and 2 g more in parts and time at least on paper . or just part it out .the local hipster kids consider the shovel
their version of a pan
