Default 1970 FLH Wing type Petcock

Having issues removing the petcock on a 70 FLH. It seems to be installed with some sort of pipe thread sealer - ever heard of this ? Are the threads standard or reversed ?

Any good ideas on removing - trying not to bang up the original petcock getting it off. Thanks rb

Unless you absolutely must stay stock, you would be better off replacing it with a Pingle petcock. The downside is they aren't cheap ~$80 if you shop around
