LOL

Don't hear any coughing or sneexing from the carb but then the farting (i.e. popping) is a lot louder. Perhaps it is like when your cough/sneeze you fart at the same time...lol

Thanks.....the farting doesn't happen all the time...only when throttling up when shifting, not when cruising in gear.

Still curious about electrical issue as mentioned in that thread on the same issue.

i guess a loose ground wire would be a miniature version of when you would turn off the key for a moment going thru a tunnel and the unburned gas would collect in the exhaust and then backfire really loud when you turned the key back on.

slight hijack here - my 79 occasionally sneezes thru the carb - definitely an intake leak? or could it be something else?

Just checked...no leaks found around the manifold. Thanks

Beginning to sound more like a fuel issue,,,perhaps jets? I guess now I should to revisit replacing my S&S Super B with a Super E. That was the only recommendation from the previous owner when I bought the bike, but did not know why he was making that recommendation..

start the bike and spray aerosol cleaner/lubricant around seals and see if the bike revs up or dies. I am going to do it again and bring the rpm up a little (had it at idle) and spray all areas i.e not only manifold seals.

Any other suggestions? .

I also plan to clean the jets and determine what size jets I have on the B.

I tried everything on my 76. Electrical, ignition, carb cleaning/tuning. Heck I even swapped the S&S E from my FXWG, that was running perfect, for the E that was on my shovel. Nothing helped until I found and fixed my intake leak.
